April, sweet April!

I don't think I would be far from the truth if I said most of my friends (and I) will be happy to bid March good-bye. We're pretty disappointed in March because it held the promise of spring, and then reneged over and over again with freezing weather, high winds, and for the truly unfortunate, snow! This led to my own copyrighted saying, "When March comes in as a lion, it leaves as a polar bear." copyrighted March 2010 by Mary Bennett who was at this time exasperated with March!

March disappointed me again when absolutely none (as in zero, notta, naught) of my fall planted bulbs came up to greet Spring 2010. My husband offered explanations such as the winter being too cold for them, or may-be some of the salt from the road had killed them. I thought squirrels had gotten to them when I found the remains of a crocus bulb, the papery cover neatly open, and still connected to the bulb bottom for all the world looking like a fried blooming onion!

Yet this dreary winter, not everyone was hibernating with hot chocolate and waiting for spring. An internet friend of mine, and a work friend of my son both have books that are coming out this spring. In fact one book, Monkey Shine by Linda Meigel is already out and available at Amazon and at Barnes and Noble. My son Nick has already read it, and pronounced it a winner. I can't wait to read it, but have to wait for yet another son to finish it. Then it is MY TURN! MY TURN FAMILY, DO YOU HEAR ME? woops. I got a little dramatic there. Truthfully, I think you can watch this book become a movie within the next 5 years.

The other book is real life, and not fiction. You can learn more about it by looking for "11 On Our Own" and reading the blog. This is one blog you wish was fiction.

And speaking of blogs, Where's-Julie is a great blog of a newly married, young mother that is delightful to read and if you are the mother of adults, it will send you down memory lane.
