Today we say goodbye to Summer of 2010. If there was anything you wanted to accomplish during the summer, you only have hours left to get it done. At 11:04 (ish) tonight, the summer is over, and autumn begins. Yes! Autumn, my favorite season! The season of greens turning to reds, and yellows, bronzes and gold! The season of pumpkins and Jack O'Lanterns.
The cold is coming, but first we must celebrate with Holidays!
Tonight is also the night of the Full Moon, but not just any full moon! No, the night of the honest to goodness Harvest Moon, on exactly the day (night) that it should occur!
Here is more information, and you'll see why I am soooo excited!https://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2010/22sep_harvestmoon/

Stacy
Don't count summer out just yet. While the calendar may say tomorrow is fall, I doubt that mother nature will change that fast.
Officially the beginning of autumn - I wish someone had told that to the weather here in the north east of England where it has been doing a good impression of autumn for the last few weeks.
Today is short sleeve weather, and my Morning Glories on my mailbox are finally blooming. They only started a few days ago, where as, the Morning Glories on my porch railing are looking anemic; they don't have the amount of leaves they used to, and the leaves that are left are not as lush.
Tomorrow I think it is, we're supposed to go up to 88F! Autumn is here, but summer has not relinquished her reign!
Petty Witter, what is autumn like in North Eastern England? Do you all go autumn crazy like we do, with pumpkins (even foam rubber ones) decorating doorsteps, scarecrows leaning on railings and things like that? Or is that strictly a USA thing?
I'm so ready for fall...I don't know if I'm more excited for cooler temps or for the pumpkin cappuccinos I'll be enjoying!
Charlene, me too! I can't wait to see your autumn pictures!!!
Stacy, sing along with me: Shine on, shine on Harvest Moon ....
