Cleaning Up The House

At the moment, I'm watching Sunday Morning on CBS. The subject is, the dreaded bedbug! Apparently, and I'm not sure why, bedbugs are becoming an epidemic at hotels (luxury or economy), clothing stores (Victoria's Secret was one shown on CBS), and - gulp! - our homes!

For people who have a can-do, entrepreneurial spirit, bedbugs have even become a business. Believe it or not, there are dogs that can sniff out the location of bedbugs, and people that train dogs on how to sniff out bedbugs.

When people hear bedbugs, they often think "ugh! dirty house!" But this is a common misconception, because bedbugs can be carried in on furniture, upholstery or cushions; or they can crawl from one infected room or apartment to another. There isn't much that you can do about bedbugs once you get them, it seems. Aside from hiring an exterminator that is. Prevention though is the key.

Dirty house got my attention though, so I surfed the internet after the bedbug report, and came across this wonderful quick article about cleansers that are both organic, and probably already in your home, things like white vinegar, lemon, baking soda and borax among others. Here's the link:

This is dreadful Mary. I used to work in a hotel and they DO love hotels. It is SO VERY HARD to get rid of them. Plus, they are just gross!!! Have you ever seen them up close? Ewwwwww!

I never thought about bedbugs as a business opportunity! Maybe I should teach my dogs to sniff them out!!

I was under that same misconception that bed bugs come from dirty stuff. Had no idea, but yuck!
